Do you have any of these concerns?

I want to do self-training but I don't know what to do.
・I want to be able to swing my bamboo sword faster
-When it comes to wooden swords, should I choose a heavy or light one?

We will answer your questions and concerns directly!

If you want to increase the speed of your strikes, we recommend a light wooden sword!

...The muscles that swing something quickly and the muscles that swing something heavy are different muscles.
Muscles that move quickly are called fast-twitch muscles (white muscles), and muscles that move heavy objects are called slow-twitch muscles (red muscles).
By training in quick swings with a light wooden sword, you can strengthen the fast-twitch muscles that are the source of explosive power, allowing you to swing the bamboo sword faster.

Furthermore, it is surprisingly difficult to swing a light wooden sword in a straight and correct manner, so the balance of strength in the shoulders, elbows, wrists, and hands becomes extremely important.
Using a lightweight wooden sword allows you to train the control of the muscles used in kendo.

Please try using it alternately with a heavy wooden sword for practice and experience the benefits for yourself.

※※remarks※※
Due to the nature of wood, there may be knots in the wooden sword.
Also, the position of the nodes cannot be specified.
Please note that there is no problem with using it.

Larch...A member of the Pinaceae family (Larix genus), it is the only deciduous conifer that grows naturally in Japan. Its wood is reddish and is among the hardest of all conifers. It was originally used for flooring and packaging, but in recent years it has also come to be used for furniture, laminated lumber, plywood, and more.

Todomatsu (Abies): An evergreen coniferous tree of the Pinaceae family (Abies genus), along with the Ezo spruce, which is representative of Hokkaido. The wood is a cream color close to white. It is soft and easy to process. It is used for building materials, civil engineering materials, packaging materials, as well as for buckets and bathtubs. It is also used for Christmas trees and New Year's decorations.

Ash (Fraxinus mandshurica) - a member of the Oleaceae family (Fraxinus genus), it is called Ash because it often grows in valleys. The wood is a slightly dull cream or gray color. It is strong, sticky, and highly elastic. It is widely used for sports equipment, furniture, and flooring.
