About the product
Authentic custom-made Iaido sword "Suzaku"
Tozando's Iaido sword "Suzaku" is a genuine Iaido sword that is specialized in practical functions that maximize the performance of Iaido, and fully demonstrates the long-standing traditions of Japanese sword making.
The blade of the "Suzaku" sword is made of a specially strengthened alloy that has been gravity cast. Compared to conventional alloys, this specially strengthened alloy has superior tensile strength and pressure resistance, and is free of stress corrosion, making it ideal for iaido. Furthermore, to maximize the properties of this blade, gravity casting using a mold is used. Conventional sand casting involves pouring molten metal into a mold made from hardened sand, allowing it to cool and solidify, but this takes longer to cool than with a mold, increasing the possibility of voids.
Furthermore, because the mold is made from sand, the precision of the casting process can deteriorate over time, which can lead to the blade becoming asymmetrical. Tozando therefore uses gravity casting, which uses a more precise mold, and pours the molten metal using atmospheric pressure (gravity), which results in much less air intrusion than with sand casting, and allows the blade to cool and solidify more quickly, resulting in a stronger and more beautiful blade.

Of course, no compromises are made when it comes to polishing. The forged blades are painstakingly polished by hand by craftsmen. Considering work efficiency, there may be simpler ways to do this, but by polishing each blade as if speaking to it, it is possible to determine its characteristics and pay attention to even the smallest details, allowing only the finest products to be selected.
The engraving of the blade, which has a major impact on the sound of the hi, is also done entirely by hand. After much trial and error, taking into consideration the volume, pitch, depth, width, angle, and other factors, we have created the engraving that will bring out the best in your performance.

Just like the blade, we also carefully and traditionally approach the hilt, which determines the quality of a sword. Inexpensive replica swords often have hilts with the front and back facing the wrong way, diamond patterns that are not aligned, or the upper and lower threads not alternating. The hilt is the only part of the sword that comes into contact with the user, and it also determines the sword's appearance. Therefore, a poorly wrapped hilt can lower the dignity of the user and hinder improvement.
That is why we work carefully on wrapping the handle of each sword, believing that a good sword must have a good handle.
It is the result of these efforts and ingenuity that has allowed "Suzaku" to exude the weight and tension of a real sword at first glance, while also achieving outstanding strength.

Originally, it was a metal fitting that covered the mekugi, a nail that prevented the blade from slipping out of the handle.
Over time, it has become the center of sword fittings, showcasing the exquisite craftsmanship of precision.

blade crest
We study the master swords of famous craftsmen and create each and every piece as faithfully as possible to the original.
The sand-cast blade is polished, and the groove and stem are carved by hand.

Saya-nuri
Authentic sheaths made by professional sword craftsmen to fit each sword.
Soft magnolia wood is used to prevent scratches on the blade

Premium Scabbard
High-precision scratching of the sheath base
To enable smoother drawing and sheathing of the sword, the scabbard is made from a particularly high-quality magnolia wood, which is then subjected to the usual machining process and then further hand-finished. This process not only smooths the surface of the inside of the scabbard, but also creates a shape that is perfectly suited to the blade. Please give it a try.

・The blade is secured in place with a nail. If the nail is loose, broken, or damaged, the blade may break or fly off, so be sure to check the nail before use.
・The swords are not designed to be used to fight each other.
- If any abnormality occurs, stop using the product immediately.
- Please note that we cannot guarantee against defects that occur after the product has been modified or damaged by the customer or after use.
・Please refrain from disassembling our Iaido swords.
Unlike real swords, iaito swords are not originally made with the assumption that they will be disassembled.
Removing the eye nails and removing the handle can cause various parts to become loose.
Also, if you use it while it is loose, it may cause the handle to break.
