This is the leather handle that is attached to the handle when assembling a shinai. It is a long type that allows for a longer handle than usual. By making the handle longer, it becomes possible to advance in quick successions and close-to-mid range offense and defense. It is a single type with black gin leather decoration that is luxurious and highly durable.

We use only the finest domestically produced gin leather, carefully selected by artisans in Banshu (southwestern Hyogo Prefecture), a region famous for its leather production. It perfectly balances a soft feel that fits comfortably in the hand with high durability. Carefully hand-stitched, the stitching is minimal, resulting in a flat, natural grip that becomes addictive once you use it. Another feature is that the leather does not stretch much with use. While individual differences may occur due to the natural material, it is generally slightly heavier than single-type shinai, which affects the center of gravity in the hand when the shinai is assembled.
