[Event Report] We sneaked into a joint company information session for Kendo club members!

The first joint company information session for Kendo club students was held on Saturday, June 23, 2018. It was organized by Kendo Jidai and supported by RF Technica Co., Ltd. It's a wonderful initiative that I would have definitely wanted to participate in if I were a student.

I was surprised to learn that Zanshin, which we normally use as an izakaya, could be used in this way. I was able to see firsthand that what Mr. Miyahara said he wanted to make Zanshin "a platform for disseminating Japanese culture" was being embodied.

Indoahiz: "I don't usually participate in events aimed at students, but I'm really glad I participated. I learned a lot from the opinions of the students."

-It was a great success! What kind of events do you think would be best in the future?

Indoahiz : "I hope that more companies will come and make it more meaningful for students.

Because of our work in the interior design industry, we have only ever used media such as Townwork, which is available in convenience stores. We are really happy to be able to participate in this event aimed at university graduates ."

Indoahiz : "I was also impressed with the ingenuity of the organizers. They had a system in place where you were given special benefits if you visited a certain number of companies, so people flocked to our booth. Until the day before, I had thought that no one would come to our booth, so I was honestly relieved."

-How did you find out about this information session?

Tahara: "The University of Tokyo Kendo Club runs a publication called Akadou Tsushin. I have a column in that publication, and that's how I found out about this information session."

-Could you tell us your impressions before you actually participated, and your impressions after participating?

Tahara : "Because I'm still a third-year student, I didn't really have a clear image of what it would be like before I participated. But I learned a lot by listening to the voices of people who actually work in companies, and I've started to get a real feel for what it's like to work in a company ."

-As a student, what kind of group would you like to see this group develop into in the future?

Tahara : "If I could be greedy, I would like to meet with more companies. There were 13 exhibitors this time, but if we could meet with more companies, I think there would be more opportunities to match students with companies ."

It was a fantastic start for the first event, and it seems that the number of companies wishing to exhibit far exceeded the capacity.

As Zanshin's Miyahara said in a recent interview (https://bushizo.com/media/201803/1850/), " People with experience in kendo are able to do basic things like etiquette. Kendo practitioners are also attractive as human resources , " it seemed that the exhibiting companies had a strong desire to recruit students who belong to their kendo clubs.

The organizer, Kendo Jidai's editor-in-chief Kobayashi, worked hard to advertise the event in the paper and provide information to schools affiliated with the Kanto University Athletic Federation, and was a great success in attracting students.

This event is scheduled to be held regularly in the future, so students should keep checking it out.
