This is the second in a series of articles explaining the basics of kendo that beginners should know before starting kendo.

This is the second time, and we will show you how to attach the men-himo.

2. How to attach the men-himo

MAYU & RYOKO "Hello everyone"

MAYU: "This is MAYU from Osuka, a kendo equipment specialty store."

RYOKO: "This is RYOKO. This video is for all kendo beginners. Please take a look."

MAYU & RYOKO: "Please"

MAYU: "Next, I'll explain how to attach the men-himo. If you have 14 men-gane, attach this breast leather to the fourth one from the bottom. 1, 2, 3, 4. Fourth one."

MAYU: "Pass the breast leather through from the inside. Then, place the bottom part of the breast leather on top."

MAYU: "Then, pass the leather through the hole in the men's string, and let the men's string come out through the cut in the leather."

MAYU: "Then, when you pull it all the way through, one side is complete."

MAYU: Next, do the same on the other side: 1, 2, 3, 4. Pass the fourth wire through from the inside.

MAYU: "Then, place the bottom part of the breast leather on top."

MAYU: "Then, thread the breast leather through the men's string and remove the men's string through the slit."

MAYU: "Here we go. It's a little hard, so be careful."

MAYU: "Then, once you've pulled it all the way out, you attach the men-himo and it's complete."

MAYU: "But then, you can't practice kendo like this, so you need to cross it in the opposite direction from the breast leather and pass it through to the top of the mengane."

MAYU: "Then it's finished."

Now you can replace the breast leather yourself.

However, I thought it might be a bit risky to thread the breast leather through the hole in the men's string the wrong way round, so I thought I'd have to be careful when putting it on myself.
